Timing your booking right can mean better weather, smaller crowds, or a lower rate — sometimes all three. Here’s how the seasons break down in San Jose del Cabo.
High Season (November – April)
This is peak travel time in Los Cabos: warm days, cool evenings, and almost no rain. It’s also whale watching season (December through March), when humpback whales migrate through nearby waters. Expect the highest demand and rates during this window, especially around the winter holidays and spring break.
Shoulder Season (May and October–November)
Shoulder season offers a sweet spot — still warm, fewer crowds, and generally better availability. Ocean temperatures are pleasant for swimming, and popular restaurants and activities are easier to book without long waits.
Summer (June – September)
Summer brings the hottest, most humid weather and the possibility of tropical storms (hurricane season officially runs June through November in the Eastern Pacific). It’s the quietest time to visit, which can mean lower demand — but it’s worth checking the forecast before locking in dates.
Our Recommendation
For the best balance of weather, availability, and value, shoulder season (May or late October) is hard to beat. If you specifically want whale watching, plan for December through March. Whatever your dates, check availability on our beachfront condo early — the best dates go first.
