Visit the San José del Cabo Church

The historic San José del Cabo Church (Misión San José del Cabo) can be found on one side of Plaza Mijares. Founded in 1730 as a Jesuit mission, the church was rebuilt in 1840 after suffering destruction from pirate attacks.

A dusty-coloured church with an impressive bell tower and neoclassical facade, this is a stunning example of 19th-century, mission-style architecture. The church’s interior features stunning stained-glass windows, historic artefacts, and religious relics, with a peaceful atmosphere.

Daily masses are held in Spanish, with traditional music accompanying Sunday services. Visitors are welcome to enter the church but should adhere to modest dress, be respectful, and follow photography guidelines.
